We have had a fantastic competition season this year and are ready for our next stop: National Championships! We are planning to send 19 athletes to the competition. We have successfully qualified a full Men's and Women's Freeski teams, a Men's Alpine ski team, and Men's and Women's Snowboard teams. This year, USCSA National Championships will be held at Mt. Bachelor in Bend, OR for a week-long program where athletes will compete in a variety of events against top schools from around the country. It is a unique experience that we are honored to take part in! Last year our Women's Snowboard team won third and our Women's Freeski team walked away with the national title, so we can't wait to head back to defend our title and hopefully pick up some more trophies!
One of our team's priorities is making competitive skiing and snowboarding more accessible. Winter sports can be incredibly expensive and exclusive, which has prevented our athletes and many more from participating in the past. That's why we work hard to keep our individual dues to a minimum and provide additional need-based financial assistance to those who would otherwise be unable to join the team. While we receive some funding from our home colleges, we rely on additional donations to support our athletes and make sure they have an opportunity to compete.
We are incredibly excited to embark on this journey, but we can only do so with your help and we greatly appreciate your support. Any donations would be used to help pay for athlete food, housing, registration (over $600 per athlete!), and transportation to the competition in Oregon.
The best way to donate and support our team is to mail a check to Associated Students of Pomona College, 170 E 6th St, Suite 244 Claremont, CA 91711. Write “Donation to Ski & Snowboard Team” in the memo. This method also counts as a tax-deductible donation to a 501(c)3 organization (federal tax ID 95-6000171). Please email us at 5c.skiboardteam@gmail.com so we know to look out for a check!
We are also running a GoFundMe, if you would prefer to donate that way: https://gofund.me/8f28cff4
Thank you so much for your support!
